Debate is a valuable academic skill offering advantages in education and university applications. ISSOS Debate program teaches fundamental to advanced techniques, requiring English proficiency of B2 or above. Benefits include effective communication, learning from leading coaches, participation in lively debates on contemporary topics, broad subject knowledge, argument formation, and confidence building. Classes are held in historic debating chambers at top universities, with 39 hours of instruction. Debating fosters critical thinking and articulation, crucial for university admissions. Coaches cover speech delivery, argument organisation, evidence analysis, and debating theory. The program accommodates both novice and experienced debaters, culminating in a Final Night Debate showcasing top teams.
Accommodation
- Upon arrival, students are placed in groups based on age and gender, led by a counsellor who acts as a mentor throughout the program.
- Each group consists of 8 to 15 students who stay together in designated halls.
- Students provide dietary requirements/allergies through a questionnaire upon acceptance, with efforts made to accommodate requests such as halal meat or vegetarian options.

ISSOS provides a unique summer program for 13 to 18-year-olds worldwide at prestigious universities of St Andrews, Cambridge, and Yale. ISSOS offers a well-rounded, supervised curriculum where students choose academic and elective classes. With over 80 nationalities represented, ISSOS fosters an international family environment, promoting friendships across borders. Places are limited to 10% for one nationality.
